You’re Not That Important
A letter to self-conscious and insecure people
The other day a friend of mine told me that he was on a call with a group of people that he doesn’t feel very comfortable with. And when he left them, he couldn’t stop worrying about them talking badly about him.
My answer to him was this: Don’t worry about it. No one cares about you that much. Everyone is focused on themselves.
I know this sounds harsh, but it’s true. And unless you get this into your head, you’ll always feel that way too.
People will normally be thinking about themselves and not you.
I used to struggle with the same thing. I had multiple experiences similar to my friend’s. Knowing this helped me feel less self-conscious and let go of a lot of insecurities that I had.
It took me a while, but ultimately this harsh truth set me free.
Realizing that everyone has their own lives and insecurities to deal with will help you free yourself.
