The books I read in the month of October were a bit disappointing.

I was giving horror a try since it’s a genre I don’t usually read, but it didn’t go so well.

I’m not sure why these books didn’t do it for me.

It could have been the fact that I was expecting to feel scared and didn’t.

Or maybe I just prefer books with a bit more depth to the characters — that is what saved The Shinning from being another flop for me.

All I know is that I have to be a bit more selective with my choices next time. Or else I’ll end up in a reading slump again.

Here’s the list of books I read this month:

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

Genre: Horror, Historical Fiction
Length: 301 pages
Rating on Goodreads: 3.68
My Rating: 2
